CLERMONT, Fla.—A Groveland woman was killed Tuesday afternoon after rear-ending an SUV, triggering a chain-reaction crash that injured three others, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said the 50-year-old Groveland woman was driving a 2017 Audi A7 southbound on U.S. Highway 27 approaching Greater Groves Boulevard in the outside lane, around 5 p.m. She failed to slow down and rear-ended a 2015 Lexus RX being driven by a 73-year-old woman of Ontario, Canada.
The Audi then collided with a 2019 Subaru Outback that was stopped in the northbound left-turn lane at the intersection, and crash debris struck the hood of a 2023 Honda Civic driven by a 44-year-old Davenport woman, FHP said.
The impact caused the Subaru to spin into the northbound center lane, and it collided with a 2020 Toyota Camry being driven by a 25-year-old Tavares man.

The Groveland woman was airlifted to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The Subaru’s driver, a 24-year-old Clermont man, his 23-year-old Winter Garden passenger, and the driver of the Toyota, a 25-year-old Tavares man, were taken to AdventHealth Four Corners ER with non-life-threatening injuries, FHP said.
The driver of the Lexus and her 69-year-old passenger, both from Ontario, Canada, as well as the Honda’s driver, a 44-year-old Davenport woman, were not transported.
