Groveland man charged with cocaine trafficking after multi-agency drug raid

GROVELAND, Fla. — A Groveland man is facing a cocaine trafficking charge after a multi-agency narcotics investigation led to search warrants at a duplex on Blue Street Tuesday morning.

Detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau and the Groveland Police Department executed narcotics search warrants at 745 and 747 Blue St. on Tuesday after determining narcotics were allegedly being distributed from both apartments, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was used to secure the duplex while detectives from LCSO, Clermont, Eustis, Groveland and Leesburg searched both residences.

During the search, detectives recovered cocaine, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm, according to LCSO.

Corey P. Solomon, 39, was arrested for trafficking in cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an arrest affidavit, SWAT team members made entry into the apartment at 747 Blue St. shortly after 5 a.m. Detectives later located approximately 19.2 grams of cocaine and 12.1 grams of crack cocaine hidden inside a bedroom identified as Solomon’s. The substances tested positive for cocaine and had a combined weight of approximately 31.3 grams.

Detectives also found a digital scale with cocaine residue and a razor blade, items investigators said are commonly used to weigh and package narcotics for distribution.

Mail addressed to Solomon was found in the bedroom where the drugs were recovered, and Solomon identified the room as his during the investigation, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit also states Solomon admitted using marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine.

Solomon was transported to the Lake County Jail without incident.

Additional arrests connected to the investigation at 745 Blue St. are pending, according to LCSO.
