MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Two Lake County men were killed Friday in separate crashes in Marion and Hillsborough counties, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 6 a.m., a 42-year-old Eustis man was driving a pickup truck southbound on Interstate 75 when he drifted across all three lanes and struck a guardrail near mile marker 366 in Marion County, FHP said.
The pickup overturned, ejecting the driver into the northbound lanes. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In a separate crash shortly before 11 p.m. Friday in Hillsborough County, a 42-year-old Leesburg man was struck and killed while attempting to cross a roadway.
FHP said a 72-year-old Largo man was driving a Chevy Equinox westbound on State Road 574 when two pedestrians attempted to cross near North 68th Street.
The SUV struck both pedestrians. The Leesburg man was pronounced deceased at the scene; a 54-year-old Miami man suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
