MARION COUNTY, Fla. —The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating head-on crash that killed a Belleview man and sent his passenger and two Lake County residents to the hospital early Saturday.
Shortly before 2:45 a.m., a 29-year-old Altoona woman was driving a pickup truck eastbound on County Road 42 near Southeast 160th Avenue Road when she crossed the center line and slammed into a sedan being driven by a 40-year-old Belleview man. The Belleview man was killed and his passenger, who has not been identified, was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital in critical condition, FHP said.
The Altoona woman and her passenger, a 22-year-old Clermont man, suffered serious injuries and were transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, according to FHP. The crash remains under investigation.
