Persons of Interest in Altoona Double Shooting Involved in “Encounter” with Ormond Beach Police Friday, Few Details Released

ORMOND BEACH, Florida—The two persons of interest in an Altoona double homicide Thursday night were involved in an incident with Ormond Beach Police Department Friday, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Lt. John Herrell.

Herrell did not release many details Friday night and an email to Ormond Beach Police Department was unanswered at press time Friday.

Rogers Myles Gilbert, age unknown, of Alabama, is in custody in Volusia County on unrelated charges “after an encounter with Ormond Beach police officers,” Herrell said. The second person of interest is a female whose name has not been released and her status is unclear.

This is a developing story.
