Groveland motorcyclist killed in Orange County crash

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.—A Groveland man has died after crashing a motorcycle into a guardrail early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 45-year-old man was riding a 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide westbound in the outside lane of State Road 408 near State Road 50 when veered ff the road for an unknown reason and struck a guardrail, shortly before 1:30 a.m., FHP said. Tavares man killed in crash Sunday

TAVARES, Fla.— Tavares Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a man Sunday. Blake Sawyer, 21, of Tavares, was riding a dirt bike on Dead River Road shortly before 12:15 p.m. when he attempted to pass vehicles using the shoulder, according to a preliminary investigation, Tavares Police Department Public Information Officer Courtney Sullivan said. Sawyer struck a pole and crashed. He was wearing a helmet, Sullivan said. Sawyer was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation.

MONTVERDE, Fla.—A 39-year-old Howey-in-the-Hills man was thrown from his motorcycle and killed Sunday afternoon when he ran off the road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. SORRENTO, Fla. —A Sorrento man was killed early Wednesday evening after a pickup truck turned in front of him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. EUSTIS, Fla.—A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon after striking a concrete mailbox, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The man was riding a 2020 Harley-Davidson FXLRS on State Road 44 when he failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road, and hit the mailbox near Bottany Woods Drive, in unincorporated Eustis, shortly after 5 p.m. He was transported to AdventHealth DeLand, where he was pronounced deceased, FHP said. LEESBURG, Florida—A 30-year-old Leesburg man was killed late Thursday night after he struck the back of an SUV, according to Leesburg Police Department Capt. Joe Iozzi. James B.
