Man, Angry Over a Ride, Accused of Slapping Deputy’s Hand and Disorderly Intoxication

LEESBURG, Florida—A man apparently angry that a pair of Uber delivery drivers would not take him anywhere, slapped a deputy’s hand, got tased and went to jail Saturday night, according to an arrest affidavit.

A Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy was flagged down in the 11000 block of Huggins Street in the Bassville Park area of Leesburg by two females around 10:30 pm. Saturday. The pair told the deputy they arrived at a home on Huggins to pick up a package and they were approached by Jemerh Tyrik Cosby, 26, who lived at the home. Cosby, who they said appeared to be very intoxicated, reportedly became angry when he found out the pair did not transport passengers and beat the vehicle’s windows and screamed there was going to be a serious problem if they did not give him a ride, the affidavit states.

LCSO responded to the home and observed Cosby sitting in the carport and was instantly “greeted with a barrage of obscenities from the arrestee.” Cosby shouted obscenities at the deputy for several minutes and “continuously got directly in my face,” the deputy noted in the affidavit. The deputy pushed Cosby back several times and Cosby finally slapped the deputy’s hand away and the deputy tased him. Cosby fell to the ground and was taken into custody for battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly intoxication. He was transported to the Lake County Jail, where he  was released on $6,000 bond
