LEESBURG, Fla—A teenager was killed on Florida’s Turnpike Saturday after she hit a tow truck merging into traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 18-year-old woman was driving a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E southbound, north of mile marker 291, when she hit the back of a 2024 Hino tow truck that was merging from the outside shoulder into the outside lane, around 9:45 p.m., FHP said. The impact killed the Southwest Ranches woman; the tow truck driver, a 53-year-old Ocala man, was not injured.
