Tavares police investigating hit-and-run that killed bicyclist Sunday night

TAVARES, Fla.—Tavares Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a man on Alfred Street Sunday.

TPD responded to the 600 block of East Alfred Street at 8:50 p.m. and found a bicyclist suffering from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run, TPD Public Information Officer Courtney Sullivan told Inside Lake.

The bicyclist succumbed to his injuries, and his name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, Sullivan said. Investigators are continuing to canvass the area for witnesses and video, Sullivan said. If you have information or surveillance footage, call TPD’s non-emergency number at 352-343-2101, option 4.
