Tragic End to Search for Lake Yale Missing Boater on Independence Day

EUSTIS, Florida—The body of a boater missing since Saturday afternoon has been found.

Helicopters could be heard flying over Lake Yale as soon as the sun was up on Monday morning, and the man was found around 7 a.m., Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Public Information Officer Chad Weber said in a press release.

The man was identified as Nicholas Kenley, by his wife Christina, in several Facebook group posts Monday morning and by Weber, late Monday morning.

“The FWC would like to extend its condolences to the family during this difficult time,” Weber said in the press release.

FWC and Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies began searching for Kenley around 3:15 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a boating accident. FWC and LCSO rescued one man and began searching for Kenley immediately, Weber said.  Sunday afternoon storms hampered their efforts, but several boats stayed out on the water searching

FWC and LCSO have been staged at Marsh Park, off County Road 452 since Saturday when the man was reported missing.
