SUMTER COUNTY, Fla.—The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a golf cart crash that killed two people Friday night. Around 9:30 p.m., a 64-year-old Lady Lake man was driving a golf cart westbound on County Road 109 and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27, FHP said. The golf cart collided with a Kia Soul that was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 27 and overturned. THE VILLAGES, Fla.—A 89-year-old man is in serious condition after driving his golf cart into the path of a car Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 89-year-old man of The Villages was driving a golf cart northbound on a golf cart path shortly before 8 a.m. when he turned left in front of a car near Woodridge Drive in Sumter County, according to FHP.
