Four Corners Area Rapist Held on $45,000 Bond

CLERMONT, Florida—A man accused of raping an 18-year-old student Wednesday as she walked to her bus stop has been arrested just five days after the attack.

Brian Terick Wilkerson, 18, of Clermont is facing a charge of sexual battery, kidnapping and false imprisonment after he was identified as the man who raped one victim and accosted two more, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The first victim told police she was walking to her bus stop at Carrington at Four Corners apartments in unincorporated Clermont around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday when a man, later identified as Wilkerson, approached her from behind, put his hand over her mouth and dragged her to the third floor. He forced the victim to perform a sex act and later ran away.

Video surveillance showed the victim walking along a building and a person walking in the opposite direction passes her, then turns around, grabs her from behind and both are seen entering the stairwell; both can be seen leaving in opposite directions a few minutes later.

The same night, LCSO received a report from a second victim who said, shortly before 9 p.m. she was walking in the same apartment complex and a man grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth. She screamed and ran up a flight of stairs and he followed her until she screamed again, and he ran away, according to the affidavit.  Video surveillance in that incident showed the victim going up the stairs, followed by the male and then a woman screaming.

LCSO received a third report that night from the opposite side of the apartment complex. The female victim told LCSO she arrived home from work at 9:22 p.m. and as she walked to her door, she heard footsteps behind her. She said a black male was running towards her with his hands up and she screamed, causing him to run away.

On Thursday, the apartment complex provided high-definition video from the incident involving the first victim. LCSO detectives were able to track the suspect’s movements and he is seen arriving and leaving the complex in a Suzuki Forenza. After running the tag, LCSO found Wilkerson is the only registered owner and lives with his grandmother just a half of a mile from the complex where all three incidents took place. Other videos show the Forenza was in the complex during each attack, the affidavit states.

LCSO began surveilling Wilkerson Thursday and at one point followed him back to the apartment complex. He drove through and parked several times and “appeared to mimic the movements of females observed walking in the apartment complex, the affidavit states.

On Monday detectives performed a “trash pull” at Wilkerson’s home; if any evidence was found, it was redacted from the affidavit. A warrant was issued for Wilkerson’s arrest, and he was picked up shortly before 5 p.m. Monday. He is being held in the Lake County Jail on $45,000 bond.

Man Steals Car, Breaks Into Home With Sleeping Infant, Claims His Drink Was Drugged

CLERMONT, Florida—A man who claimed he stole a car and broke into a home because he believed he was drugged at a bar is facing a trio of felonies after residents of the burglarized home detained him and called the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Early Saturday morning, LCSO responded to a report of a stolen car at McDonald’s, 16832 Corner Center Drive, Clermont and found that the victim left his car running in the parking lot. A man, later identified as Larry Lopez-Santana, 35, was captured on video at 2:15 a.m. walking up to the red Ford Focus, getting in and backing out before taking a left turn onto U.S. Highway 27, according to an arrest affidavit.

A Spanish-speaking deputy was summoned to the scene for translation assistance and located the stolen car, unoccupied, in the area of Markham Drive.

Just 35 minutes later LCSO received a report of a burglary in progress at a home on Markham Drive in unincorporated Clermont and when they arrived, they found Lopez-Santana detained by the homeowner. The homeowner said Lopez-Santana tore a locked to screen door to enter the patio and struck a sliding glass door with a metal chair, shattering the glass. Several people were in the home sleeping, including an infant who is less than 3 weeks old, according to the affidavit.

LCSO took Lopez-Santana into custody and found the keys to the stolen car in his pocket; he told deputies he was at a bar on U.S. Highway 27, and he believed his drink was drugged. He left the bar and walked to the McDonald’s parking lot where he believed he was being chased by people from the bar, the affidavit states.

Lopez-Santana admitted he stole the car, left his hoodie near the gate of the neighborhood where he was found and went to the house he broke into. Lopez-Santana was transported to the Lake County Jail where an Oxycodone pill was found in his sock. He is facing charges of grand theft auto, burglary of an occupied dwelling and introduction of contraband into a detention facility. He is being held on $18,000 bond.

Umatilla Man Busted For Buying Vehicles With Bum Checks in 2021, Tries Again With Stolen Credit Card

CLERMONT, Florida— A man arrested last year for scamming two local automobile dealerships has been arrested again for attempting a similar scam.

Prestin S. Carroll, 20, of Umatilla was arrested on warrant issued by Clermont Police Department Wednesday after a man complained his credit card was used fraudulently to charge $2,500 towards the purchase of a new vehicle, at Napleton Clermont Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM , 15859 State Road 50, Clermont, according to a probable cause affidavit.

CPD investigated and found that Carroll, who was employed at the dealership as a detailer, was captured on video using the card to charge $2,000 and $500 in two separate transactions towards the purchase of a 2022 Jeep Compass, the affidavit states.

A warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday, and he was booked into the Lake County Jail on one count of credit card fraud and one count of grand theft Wednesday and released on $4,000 bond.

In April 2021, Carroll was arrested for two counts of grand theft auto and four counts of fraud stemming from scamming two dealerships in Eustis; he was unsuccessful in scamming two more. Eustis Police Department responded to Advantage Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, 18311 U.S. Highway 441, Mount Dora on a report Carroll had purchased a 2021 Jeep Wrangler with a check written for $48,940.35 four days earlier. The check was returned the next day for insufficient funds and the manager contacted the bank and found the account the check was written on had been closed.  The manager requested Carroll bring in a cashier’s check or return the Jeep by the end of the day and Carroll agreed, according to that probable cause affidavit.

Just a week later, on April 23, another EPD officer responded to Danny Len Buick GMC, 17605 U.S. Highway 441, also on a fraud complaint. An employee told EPD Carroll came to the dealership on April 17— the same day the Jeep was returned— and wrote a $5,000 check to hold a 2013 Ford F150. On April 19, Carroll returned to the dealership and finished paperwork and wrote a check for the remaining balance on the truck— $14,857.78. The checks were returned as unpaid four days later and the employee attempted to contact Carroll to no avail and then called police.

Carroll told police he “must have accidently written checks from the wrong account,” the affidavit states; he later returned the truck. Carroll also attempted to purchase a Ford F150 Platinum worth $74,000 from Prestige Ford, 17701 U.S. Highway 441, Eustis but was unsuccessful. Carroll was also unsuccessful at Phillips Buick GMC, 2160 U.S. 441/27, Fruitland Park.

Carroll’s criminal history showed a prior arrest in Winter Haven and EPD contacted Winter Haven Police Department and found that Carroll had purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro from a dealership in Winter Haven, with a worthless check in the amount of $28,379.59 The report in that case mentioned a similar case in Pasco County and EPD contacted Pasco County Sheriff’s office and found that Carroll had purchased a 2020 Toyota Tacoma from a dealership there and then traded it in on a 2021 Jeep Rubicon. He is alleged to have written two checks for those vehicles totaling nearly $75,000.

In the 2021 Lake County cases, Carroll agreed to a pre-trial intervention (PTI) program, according to Lake County Clerk of Court online records. One of Carroll’s requirements is, “The defendant agrees to refrain from any violations of law.” It is unclear how Carroll’s new charges will affect his prior cases.

Clermont Teenager Accused of Killing Family Dog With Sword

CLERMONT, Florida—A 17-year-old boy with a “history of violence” is accused of killing the family dog with a sword Saturday and leaving it in the woods near his house.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in unincorporated Clermont over the weekend on a report that Avery Featherston, 17, had killed the family dog with a sword and buried it in the woods. Deputies found a sword in the boy’s bedroom that still had animal hair on it, according to an arrest affidavit.  The boy’s stepfather showed deputies where he believed the dog may be and they found the dog dead approximately 20 to 30 yards into the woods.

The dog appeared to have been tied to a tree and had multiple lacerations; the dog was also missing part of its face, the affidavit states. “The body of the dog showed it was a very cruel and inhumane death,” the arresting deputy noted.

The boy’s family members told LCSO the boy has a history of violence and they were scared for the safety of other animals and small children in the home.

CLERMONT, Florida—A 41-year-old Clermont man is facing several counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of lewd and lascivious conduct after being accused of giving three minor sisters alcohol and marijuana and behaving inappropriately.

Edwin Ivan Cuevas Quinones, of Clermont, is accused of plying the three girls with marijuana and alcohol in June while they were in Florida for a visit, according to a probable cause affidavit. Due to heavy redaction in the affidavit, it is unclear what Quinones’ relationship to the children is.

Clermont Man Tells Boy, ‘Go Get Your Father So I Can Kill Him With My Bare Hands’

The following story was previously published on Lake Legal News.

CLERMONT, Florida — “Legends has not seen anything yet and just wait,” a man who repeatedly threatened to kill his neighbor told a Clermont Police officer on his way to jail over the holiday weekend, according to an arrest affidavit.

On Saturday, CPD responded to a home on Legendary Boulevard after the victim reported Daniel L. Boyan, 63, his neighbor, was threatening to kill him— again. The victim said Boyan’s behavior was becoming “too much” and explained that Boyan was driving past his home daily and yelling obscenities and just a few days prior a verbal altercation turned physical when Boyan pushed the victim. The victim called police after the altercation, but declined to press charges, according to the affidavit.

During Saturday’s incident, Boylan got out of his vehicle and began waving his arms and yelling at the victim’s son. “Go get your father, I am going to kill your father. I am going to kill him with my bare hands. I am going to show you what a real criminal looks like,” Boyan reportedly said.

The victim’s son ran inside and told his father, causing the victim to fear for his family’s safety. Boyan drove past the victim’s house multiple times yelling he was going to kill him or have someone else do it, the victim told police. The victim also said Boyan had somehow found out where his daughter attended school, causing him concern. The victim called CPD, and neighborhood security and security officers captured Boyan on video calling the victim names and shouting obscenities, the affidavit states. A security officer told police they get multiple calls about Boyan yelling obscene remarks, particularly to the victim in this case.

CPD officers went to Boyan’s home, and he said he felt great and had some “weed” for the first time in a while. He then became agitated and began yelling about Jewish people and Sept. 11; he was placed under arrest for aggravated stalking and assault and became “extremely irate,” the arresting officer noted. On the ride to the Lake County Jail, Boyan stated, “Legends has not seen anything yet and just wait,” along with asking the officer if the officer wanted to shoot him and stating he would shoot his dog if he wanted to. He then asked if they were going to Twistee Treat— a local ice cream stand.

Boyan was booked into LCJ, where he is being held on $10,500 bond.

Clermont 7-Eleven Employee Accused Of Erasing Transactions From Cash Register’s “Memory”

The following story was previously published on Lake Legal News.

Clermont, Florida — An employee of a local gas station is facing grand theft and scheming to defraud charges after he was found stealing cash from the business.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7-Eleven, 1635 U.S. Highway 27, Clermont Wednesday after a man reported he was reviewing transactions and video surveillance from January through March and found that an employee was stealing.

According to the complainant, Luis Miguel Martinez-Rivas, 30, was captured on video on multiple occasions ringing a customer up and putting the transaction into “memory” instead of “final sale.” Once the customer left the store, Martinez-Rivas would void the purchase and place the cash from the transaction to the left side of the drawer where the $100 bills were kept, according to the arrest affidavit. He would then pocket the money throughout the night or use it to purchase items for an unknown friend.

A video from March 18, shows Martinez-Rivas, of Clermont, ringing up a customer and moving the cash to the left side of the drawer. The next customer, Martinez-Rivas’ friend, approaches the counter with a gift card and hands it to Martinez-Rivas, who activates the gift card. Martinez-Rivas then pockets his friend’s money and rings up Coors Light beer his friend has and uses the money from the left side of the drawer to pay for the beer. The total amount stolen between January and March was $2,250, the affidavit states.

LCSO went to Martinez-Rivas’ home to question him and he spoke about the complainant’s father, according to the affidavit. He was arrested and on the ride to the Lake County Jail, he told the arresting deputy he was not being paid properly and he needed the money because his son was coming from Puerto Rico.

Martinez-Rivas was booked into LCJ, where he is being held on $7,000 bond.

“Lyla” The Dog Dead Following Botched Amateur C-Section In Clermont Home

The following story was previously published on Lake Legal News.

CLERMONT, Florida — A TikTok video of an amateur botched C-section that killed a white French bulldog landed two men behind bars Friday, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Larry Colon, 50, is alleged to have paid a man $650 to perform a c-section on his pregnant dog, Lyla, in Colon’s living room while Colon’s teenage daughter filmed the horrific surgery and posted it on the popular app TikTok Feb. 9.

The video shows Colon holding Lyla down on a metal table while Frankie Huertas-Rivera, 33, cuts Lyla open. Lyla is seen shaking and squirming in pain with her head thrashing back and forth, giving the appearance the dog is not completely sedated, according to the affidavit, Huertas-Rivera then removes puppies from Lyla.

Colon then took Lyla — after she was already dead — to a local vet following the C-section and an employee performed chest compressions on the French bulldog for 15 minutes in an attempt to save her life.  Lyla was found with two dead puppies still inside her and is believed to have died from septic shock secondary to contamination and additional puppies left in her uterus, according to the affidavit.

The veterinarian told an LCSO deputy Lyla and her two dead puppies “suffered unjust cruelty and suffering due to unethical medical services performed,” the affidavit states.

Colon was picked up on a warrant Friday for animal cruelty and transported to the Lake County Jail, where he was released on $5,000 bond. Huertas-Rivera was arrested Friday in Hernando County on a warrant for animal cruelty and practicing without a license. He was released from the Hernando County Jail on $7,000 bond.
