EUSTIS, Fla.—An expanded First Friday celebration and a charity dash will bring music, family activities and a tribute to veterans to Eustis this weekend.
The First Friday Salute to Veterans is scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in downtown Eustis. Road closures begin at 3 p.m.
The event will feature two stages of entertainment, including the Dallas Tyler Band, Divas Musical Tribute to the Troops and Greg Warren Band. Military vehicle displays, a Wreaths of Honor program, food trucks, vendors, inflatables and an Extreme Game Truck are also planned.
On Saturday, Nov. 7, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department will host its Salute to Veterans 2-Mile Dash at the Eustis Police Department, 51 E. Norton Ave. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., followed by the race at 8:30 a.m.
Participants can run, walk or jog, and each will receive a commemorative T-shirt and finisher medal. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 on race day.
Proceeds benefit the Eustis Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund, which helps children participate in after-school programs, summer camps, athletics and aquatics.
