Overnight lane closures planned on 441 in Tavares, Leesburg this week for resurfacing projects

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Motorists traveling on U.S. Highway 441 in Tavares and Leesburg should expect overnight lane closures this week as the Florida Department of Transportation continues resurfacing projects in both cities.

The closures are scheduled for the week of May 3 through May 9 as part of roadway improvement projects aimed at rehabilitating asphalt surfaces and maintaining safe, reliable travel lanes. Pedestrian curb ramps will also be upgraded where needed to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

In Tavares, crews are resurfacing U.S. Highway 441 from Lakeshore Boulevard to Lake Eustis Drive.

In Leesburg, the project includes operational improvements on U.S. Highway 441 from Mills Street to College Drive, along with repaving North Boulevard from Perkins Street to Mills Street.

Drivers should expect areas of uneven pavement within the work zones while crews apply multiple layers of asphalt in phases.

Lane closures are scheduled for overnight, from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on open roadways and from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. within 600 feet of intersections.

FDOT urges motorists to slow down and use caution in construction zones. Work schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
