Bystanders pointed deputies in the direction the suspect fled on foot, and a deputy located Timotheus Reed, 38, Earley said. During the encounter, the deputy shot Reed, who was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy performed Monday showed Reed was shot once in the front left side of his abdomen, LCSO Capt. John Herrell said.
“A knife was recovered near where the deputy encountered Reed,” Herrell said in an email.
The deputy, whose name has not been released, was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and a preliminary administrative review, both standard procedure.
