Motorcyclist killed in crash on SR 44 near Eustis

EUSTIS, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a Eustis motorcyclist Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., a 23-year-old man was riding a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on State Road 44 approaching Brantley Branch Road in unincorporated Eustis, above the posted speed limit, according to FHP.

He lost control of the motorcycle, swerved left and collided head-on with a 2008 Toyota Tundra that was attempting to turn westbound onto State Road 44 from Brantley Branch Road. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old Maitland man, and his passengers, a 59-year-old Maitland woman and a 64-year-old Winter Park man, were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
