Police track down man after reported attempted abduction of teen girl in Eustis

EUSTIS, Fla. — Eustis Police Department has arrested a man in connection with the reported attempted abduction of a teenage girl Saturday, authorities said.

EPD began their search for the suspect after a teenage girl said a man had approached her while she was walking in the area of East Pinehurst Boulevard and South Grove Street around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. She told police the man began talking to her about places to get drinks in the area and offered her $300 to get in the SUV he was driving.

Eustis Police Department released these photos of the Nissan they say was involved in an attempted abduction.

The 17-year-old girl refused and the man grabbed her, EPD Chief Craig Capri told Inside Lake, and she ran away.

She described the man as white, possibly 50 to 60 years old, with white hair, wearing glasses and a blue shirt. Police also released two photos of the vehicle on social media Monday.

The victim positively identified the man as Gregory Dewayne Lockwood, 55, police said, and he was arrested Tuesday afternoon for attempted abduction and battery on a minor. He was booked into the Lake County Jail, where he is being held on no bond.
