Mount Dora man killed in Sumter County crash Saturday

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. —A Mount Dora man was killed after he crashed into a tractor-trailer in Sumter County late Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just after 11:15 a.m., a 63-year-old Mount Dora man was driving a Toyota Prius southbound on State Road 471 north of State Road 50 when he crossed the center line and struck a tractor-trailer “nearly head-on,” FHP said. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 32-year-old Hialeah Gardens man, was not injured.
