EUSTIS, Florida— Investigators from The Florida Department of Financial Services, Eustis Police Department, Lake County Office of Building Services and the Lake County Board of County Commissioners worked undercover to bust an unlicensed contractor Wednesday.
Kevin Allen Boyer, 53, of Eustis met undercover investigators at a building in Eustis and agreed to install a 20 feet by 30 feet screen enclosure with a pad, according to an arrest affidavit. Boyer told the agents he would email an estimate in two days that would include labor and materials.
Boyer said he did not have workers compensation coverage and was not exempt, the affidavit states. State law requires employers in the construction industry who employ one or more people to carry workers compensation coverage.
Boyer was read his rights and refused to speak to investigators; he was arrested for three counts of contracting without a license and one count of fraud; he is being held in the Lake County Jail on no bond.
