OKAHUMPKA, Fla.—A 27-year-old man is behind bars after an elderly woman he is related to reported he stole her car and battered her Tuesday. Around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, the 77-year-old woman told deputies Alan Aspinwall wanted her to unlock her 2018 Toyota Corolla so he could get something out of the trunk in Okahumpka, according to an arrest affidavit. Busy Intersection Still Blocked Due to Diesel Cleanup After Fatal Crash Near Okahumpka

OKAHUMPKA, Florida—A fatal crash that caused a diesel spill closed a busy intersection for most of the day Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.    A 33-year-old Bradenton man was driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander eastbound on County Road 470 approaching County Road 33 near Okahumpka when he ran a red light and struck the right side of a 2021 semi-truck being driven by a 43-year-old Brandon man. The impacted killed the 25-year-old Outlander passenger of Sarasota; he was not wearing a seatbelt and the driver was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
