EUSTIS, Fla. — Downtown Eustis will turn into a hub of Japanese culture Saturday as the city hosts the inaugural Japan Festival Eustis.
The free festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 28 and will feature a full day of performances, demonstrations and interactive activities. Admission and parking are free.
Festivalgoers can expect taiko drumming, koto harp music and traditional dance, along with a preview performance from Orlando Opera’s upcoming production of Madama Butterfly.
Martial arts demonstrations—including Kyudo, Iaido, Judo and Kendo—are scheduled throughout the day, along with a large-scale shodo calligraphy demonstration.

Hands-on activities will include origami, ikebana, bonsai care and shibori dyeing. The event will also feature a children’s area, cosplay contest, photo opportunities with kimono and samurai armor, and an interactive gaming area.
WWE wrestler Shinsuke Nakamura is scheduled to appear for a meet-and-greet and autograph signing at times to be announced.
The festival is presented by Arching Oaks Japanese Art & Culture Center in Eustis.
