ALTOONA, Fla.— A woman was killed Wednesday afternoon after another woman backed into her with an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
An 80-year-old woman was walking in a southeast direction the parking lot of the front clubhouse at the Lakeview Terrace community shortly after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, FHP Lt. Tara Crescenzi said.
A 96-year-old woman driving a 2008 Ford Edge reversed out of a parking space and failed to see the pedestrian, striking her and severely injuring her. The victim was airlifted to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford, where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver was not injured.
