Clermont man killed in fiery head-on crash with semi

GROVELAND, Fla.—A Clermont man was killed late Sunday night after crashing into a tractor-trailer head-on, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 24-year-old Clermont man was driving a 2024 Toyota Crown eastbound on State Road 50, west of Sloans Ridge Road, near the Lake County/Sumter County line, when he failed to negotiate a curve, traveled into the westbound lane, and hit a 2015 Freightliner being driven by a 69-year-old Tampa man, shortly before 10:30 p.m.

The Toyota caught fire, and the Clermont man was pronounced deceased on the scene, FHP said. The Tampa man was transported to South Lake Hospital with minor injuries
