Eustis Father and Son Killed in Fiery Head-On Christmas Eve Crash

LAKE COUNTY, Florida–A Eustis family is grieving tonight after a 49-year-old man and his 27-year-old son were killed in a head-on crash on Christmas Eve.

A 21-year-old Summerfield man was eastbound in an SUV on State Road 46 near State Road 429 in the Sorrento area, when he traveled into the westbound lane for an unknown reason, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said in a press release.

The SUV struck a sedan head-on, being driven by the Eustis father, and the sedan caught fire, Montes said. The driver died at the scene and his son later died at Orlando Health. The driver of the SUV received minor injuries. All those involved in the crash were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash closed State Road 46 for several hours and remains under investigation.
