Newlywed Charged with Battering 70-year-old Husband

LEESBURG, Florida—A 66-year-old woman was arrested Saturday after scratching her 70-year-old husband because she thought he hid her phone and cigarette lighters, according to an arrest affidavit.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on Crossways Drive shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday on a report of a domestic disturbance. The victim told LCSO his wife, Mary Louise Anderson—who he married earlier this month—is an alcoholic and had gotten drunk. She became angry with him over the phone and lighters and scratched his arm and caused multiple abrasions, the affidavit states.

A deputy tried to speak with Anderson, “but she was obviously very intoxicated and when I would try to speak with her, she would just scream threats and racial slurs,” he noted in the affidavit.

Anderson was arrested for domestic battery on a person over 65 and transported to the Lake County Jail, where she was released on $10.000 bond.

Unlicensed Contractor Served with Lake County Warrant While Locked Up in Pasco Jail

CLERMONT, Florida—A man who pleaded guilty to several counts of contracting without a license, grand theft, and failure to obtain workers compensation insurance in Pasco County early this month was served with a Lake County warrant Friday while serving his sentence, charging him with two of the same crimes.

Eric Lee Manning, of Dade City, was served with the warrant for contracting without a license and grand theft just two days before his 34th birthday after being accused of swindling a Clermont woman out of more than $4,000 dollars in 2021, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Manning is alleged to have provided the victim with a $6,700 estimate for a screen enclosure and aluminum roof for a back patio. The woman gave Manning a check for $3,350 for materials and four days later, while completing a small job, he told the woman he needed an additional $1,000 and she wrote him a second check, the affidavit states.

Ten days later, Manning asked for another $1,200 and the victim told him she was not comfortable giving him more money. For more than a month, the victim was unable to reach Manning and after finally reaching him, he told her the materials were backordered. Nearly two weeks later on July 19, 2021, the victim contacted the company Manning said he ordered from, and they informed the victim the materials were never ordered, according to the affidavit.

Manning stopped answering calls and text messages and was arrested by Pasco County Sheriff’s Office on July 21. Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies found he was not licensed after doing an online search with the Department of Business and Professional Regulations, Manning was positively identified and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Man Out On Bond For Child Molestation Arrested After Firing Two Shots Near Woman Who Did Not Want Him Around Her Daughter

UMATILLA, Florida—A man out on bond for molesting a 5-year-old girl in 2020, was arrested Saturday after firing two shots near a woman who did not want him around her daughter, according to an arrest affidavit.

Around 9 p.m. Saturday, Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Tropical Whisper mobile home park in unincorporated Umatilla in reference to a battery. The victim told LCSO she went to her neighbor’s house to retrieve her daughter, who was with Joshua “Boops” Leon Redmond Dudley, 28, and his girlfriend. Dudley is facing several sex-related charges involving a minor;  the victim’s daughter’s age is not listed in the affidavit.

The woman said Dudley began arguing with her and grabbed her by the hair and threw her down, the affidavit states. Dudley then pulled out a gun and the victim yelled at him to let her go. Dudley fired a shot into the air, while holding the victim down and then fired a second shot next to her head. The victim begged Dudley not to kill her because of her daughter and he reportedly said, “You should have thought about that first.”

Dudley then let her go and fled the area and was later apprehended near the now-defunct Pine Meadows Golf Course. He was arrested on two counts of aggravated battery with a weapon, discharging a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm.  The arresting deputy requested Dudley be held on no bond due to his unresolved lewd and lascivious molestation case.

In that case, Dudley was arrested after a woman called Leesburg Police on Aug. 25, 2020, and said LPD needed to respond quickly before she killed Dudley. The witness told police Dudley molested a young girl and she did not understand why he would do that. Police questioned Dudley who reportedly uttered, “Man I (expletive) up and going away for a long time I shouldn’t have done that,” and then said, “I don’t know why I did that there is something wrong with me,” the affidavit in that case states.

Dudley told police the victim — who was only 5 years old — began talking “sexual” to him and asked him to go to the laundry room with him.  A sex act took place in the laundry room for about five minutes until the witness entered the room, according to the affidavit.

Dudley’s next court appearance in that case is scheduled for March 29.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Lake County Fire Rescue responded to a call from a passenger in a Toyota Camry who believed the driver overdosed while driving on County Road 437, north of State Road 44. Emergency personnel found Kaley Noel Barber, 31, of Orlando unresponsive with the car running. She was removed from the vehicle and regained consciousness after she was given Narcan.

Man Confronted By Homeowner As He Attempts To Steal ATV, Runs Out Of His Slides and Drops His Phone. Text Messages Reveal His Plan

SORRENTO, Florida—A burglary suspect who was being chased by the homeowner he attempted to steal an ATV from, dropped his phone and ran right out of his slides last week; and the found phone led to the capture of both him and his partner in crime, according to an arrest affidavit.

Before daylight Thursday, a Sorrento resident observed a male, later identified as Tyler Ray Trapp, 22, enter her back porch and take an ATV. The woman woke her husband, who went outside and confronted Trapp.

As Trapp attempted to leave the property, the male victim yelled and Trapp took off on foot, running out of his white Nike slides and dropping his phone, according to the affidavit.

The victims turned the phone and slides over to Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a detective took over the case. After obtaining a search warrant for the phone and looking through it, the detective determined the phone belonged to Trapp—the phone was logged into all his social media accounts, a T-Mobile account was registered to Trapp, text messages referred to him by name and he found a text conversation between Trapp and Jeremy Bradford Williams, 41, discussing the planned theft of the ATV.

That text conversation contained several statements, including: “I have a gig where we can get an ATV and a dump trailer; how are we going to get the trailer and the ATV out of the area; lets just get the ATV tonight because my friend won’t let me borrow the wrecker for the trailer; do we need bolt cutters; will we need a key for the ATV; are you sure there are no cameras at this house; where will you be waiting to pick me up in case something goes wrong.”

A neighbor of the victims who own the ATV had a dump trailer in their driveway, the detective noted in the affidavit.

After gathering evidence from the dropped phone, the detective began surveilling Williams’ residence less than 24 hours after the attempted burglary of the ATV. A red truck pulled up to the residence and LCSO spoke to a man who was there to buy tools he had already partially paid for. He was released and shortly after Trapp and Williams pulled up and were detained. Williams was “misleading” during the interview and would not give his “full involvement” in the burglary, the detective noted. Trapp, however, was more forthcoming. He admitted to the burglary of the ATV and told LCSO there were several stolen items on Williams’ property, including the tools the man came to buy earlier. Those were stolen from Home Depot, according to the affidavit. He also said they stole items from Tractor Supply Co.

Williams gave consent to search his property and the stolen items were located and taken into evidence. The car the pair were in was registered to a couple in Missouri and Williams originally said it belonged to his wife. He later recanted that statement and said he did not know who it belonged to. Trapp said Williams obtained the car, but he thinks it might be stolen and just not reported yet. Trapp also said Williams is involved in drug activity and there may be drugs in the car.

LCSO searched the car before it was towed away, and a black box was found in the car that contained Xanax, fentanyl and 66 grams of methamphetamine. Williams also had $1,600 cash.

Trapp and Williams were both arrested for burglary, grand theft, unlawful use of a two-way communication device and dealing in stolen property. Williams is facing additional charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of Xanax and possession drug paraphernalia.

Trapp was transported to the Lake County Jail, where he is being held on $40,000 bond. Williams is being held at LCJ on $56,5000 bond.

Trapp was arrested earlier this month for burglary and possession of burglary tools after Tavares Police caught him in the garden center of Ace Hardware, 509 South Duncan Drive, shortly before 3 a.m. Feb. 12. He was released on $7,000 bond in that case and that case is still pending.

Wheelchair-Bound Woman Found Living In Deplorable Conditions After She Reports Being Left Alone Near Clermont, Grandson Arrested

CLERMONT, Florida—A man was arrested Saturday for neglect of an elderly disabled person after he left his wheelchair-bound grandmother without help in deplorable conditions, according to an arrest affidavit.

Michael Dale Plant’s grandmother called the Lake County Sheriff’s Office twice Saturday morning and reported Plant had not come home the night before. The woman, who suffers from dementia and recently been released from the hospital, told LCSO she feared something may have happened to Plant responder her home. Deputies made entry into her home due to her being immobile and in a wheelchair, the affidavit states.

When a deputy entered the home, “I was hit with the foul odor of animal urine and the smell of feces. I observed (the victim) in a wheelchair in the center of the living room with her right arm in a black medical arm sling,” the arrested deputy noted in the affidavit.

The victim requested the deputy pick up a pill bottle that was on the ground because she was unable to retrieve it and had been pushing it around with her foot all morning, according to the affidavit.

The victim said Plant had not come home the night before and she did not have anyone to help her use the bathroom, shower, change her clothes or make food. LCSO attempted to call Plant, but he did not answer, and the deputy was unable to leave a message, according to the affidavit.

“While in the residence, I observed all the rooms in the residence to be cluttered with dirt, dust, rotten food, spider webs, spiders, cockroaches, ants, maggots and bedbugs. The kitchen sink was filled with dirty dishes, however, there was running water. Upon opening the fridge, many cockroaches scurried out of food dishes and onto the floor. While looking in (the victim’s) bedroom, I observed feces on her sheets, spider webs and spiders all over her bed and bedside furniture as well as animal feces on the floor,” the deputy stated.

Plant arrived at the home while LCSO was on scene and said his grandmother had fallen and been in the hospital and later rehab before she was released to go back home. Plant said he called his grandmother and told her he would not be late but did not come home because he drank too much. Plant admitted he had not helped her change her clothes or shower since she had been released from rehab. He also said he knew the living conditions were bad, but they were much worse before his grandmother was released.

LCSO notified the Department of Children and Families and three goats, and three cats were removed from the residence by Lake County Animal Control.

Plant was placed under arrest and transported to the Lake County Jail, where he was released on $2,000 bond.
