Lake County cities to honor Veterans with parades and ceremonies

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Communities across Lake County will host a series of events in observance of Veterans Day, beginning Saturday with three parades and continuing Tuesday with two special ceremonies.

CLERMONT

The City of Clermont 2025 Veterans Day Celebration begins at 10 a.m. with a parade at 12th Street and Montrose Street, and ending at Waterfront Park with a car show, vendors, food trucks, music, guest speakers and a kids zone. A ceremony is scheduled for noon.

EUSTIS

The City of Eustis’ Salute to Veterans is an all-day event scheduled for Saturday at Ferran Park in Downtown Eustis. The free event begins at 8 a.m. with food and vendors and the Phantom Airborne Brigade paratroopers’ Veterans Day Tribute Jump into Lake Eustis. This year’s program includes historic firsts: the brigade’s first all-female plane, its first female Jump Master and its oldest participant, a 91-year-old veteran.

A 2-Mile Dash begins at 8:30 a.m. at Eustis Police Department, 51 East Norton Avenue. Registration is $25 per person.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants can decorate a wreath to lay on the marked grave of any veteran who is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, 220 Haselton Street. Visit the city’s tent at Ferran Park to be a part of the city’s inaugural Wreaths of Honor project.

The annual Grand Parade begins at 2 p.m., on Eustis Street from Gottsche Avenue to Woodward Street, led by Parade Marshal Marine E-4 Cpl. Donald A. Youngmann. The Ceremony of Honor will follow the parade at 3 p.m. at Alice McClelland Bandshell in Ferran Park.

LEESBURG

Veterans Day Parade, scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Main Street, Downtown Leesburg. Enjoy a procession featuring marching bands, decorated floats, veteran organizations, and much more
 

MOUNT DORA  

The City of Mount Dora is scheduled to host its Salute to Service celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Gilbert Park 310 South Tremaine Street. Guests will enjoy free food, live music, and a heartfelt program dedicated to those who have served in all branches of the military. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend, enjoy the festivities, and take a moment to thank those who have worn the uniform in service to our nation.

 

TAVARES

The Friends of Golden Triangle History and Union Congregational Church are scheduled to host a ceremony at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Tavares Cemetery & Arboretum, 2055 Dead River Road, Tavares. The program will include the placement of wreaths, a patriotic presentation at the American Legion kiosk, and floral displays featuring the blue plumbago — the official flower of the City of Tavares.
